Who can realistically help us? by Jullian Victor @ Julez

Where do we stand now in league with the rest of the TOP teams?

Liverpool are now 17 points behind Arsenal and Manchester United in the league, a gap too far to close this season. When you look at the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United, their overall squads are a lot better than ours. I don’t want to criticize the Reds too much, but there is no way some of our players can be classed as being at the same level as the rest of the players at the top of the EPL.

As much as I hate to say it, Manchester United has the luxury services of Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Nemandja Vidic, Anderson, Owen Hargreaves as well as Nani from their reserves. Arsenal have Emmanuel Adebayor, Robie Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Aleksandr Hleb, Tomas Rosicky, Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy, Bakri Sagna, Abou Diaby and the the list goes on. Whereas Chelsea have Didier Drogba, Joe Cole, Michael Ballack, Michael Essien, John Terry, Petr Cech, Belletti and Nicolas Anelka.

Big Names to beat innit? – MyRAWK ADMIN

Looking at these names, our side doesn’t come close to competing in the same class. Steven Gerrard, Pepe Reina, Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano, and maybe Xabi Alonso are the closest to the quality of player good enough to compete with the likes above. Furthermore, who else is good enough in the LFC team set up to lift the Premiership? Players like John Arne Riise, Fabio Aurelio, Jermaine Pennant, Harry Kewell, Dirk Kuyt, Andry Voronin are just some few who are considered nowhere near good enough. With that in mind, Rafa saw fit that Momo Sissoko was not good enough and sold him. I think it is time we did the same with the rest.

Speaking about other players, we have a ready-made replacement at left back in Emiliano Insua, currently playing for the reserves. At present, he has been consistently playing well, and would do a great job for us down the left wing area. Players like Alvaro Arbeloa, Lucas Lieva, Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun are considered to be just above average at the moment, however, it remains to be seen wether they are the type that can win a game in a blink of an eye.

Can they?

Here is my list of the strong core of players.
Reina, Carra, Agger, Arebola, (Finnan is showing signs of age), Mascherano, Alonso, Gerrard, Torres.

I would have included Babel but he needs more experience. He's only 20 years old and has much more to play for.

As of current date, Javier Mascherno should be penning his future to Liverpool Football Club- MyRAWK ADMIN

Rafa Rafael where art thou have gone?

In Rafa we have a manager who seems more confused than the players themselves. He seems to have lost the plot and he seems to have lost the ability to motivate the players. His negative tactics have made exciting players like Xabi Alonso look which makes me think that he is killing the players’ flair and skill! As such I believe that as a result the players themselves are losing the faith too!

Most irritatingly this season is Rafa’s persistent use and faith in Dirk Kuyt. What I do not understand is how on earth is Kuyt still playing? He reminds me of a headless chicken running around. Everytime he plays, our formation changes from 4-4-2 to change to 4-5-1 because he is defending when he is supposed to be up there scoring! I can only imagine the look of disappointment in Fernando Torres when he keeps setting up Dirk Kuyt but alas.

My advice to Dirk Kuyt is that he should go to a brothel and he should be taught how to score! He couldn't even score againt Havant&Waterlooville, a non league team and yet he got the nod ahead of Peter Crouch. I am no big fan of Crouchy either but he DOES do a better a job when called upon. I mean Kuyt only has ONE miserable goal from open play all season! Unfortunately, I hate his excuses and his predictions that he will score in the next game, its not HAPPENNING! And i hate Rafa's SAME LAME BLOODY EXCUSES EVERY DAMN WEEK, saying that we controlled the game and had a truck load of chances but just couldn't take the game to them!! How on earth are chances gonna be taken when u freaking play Dirk Kuyt.

Thanks to negative tactics, we currently sit on 7th place in the league. And I repeat, SEVEN!! The likes of Man City and Everton are above us! What is this man doing to our beloved club?\ I seriously am afraid that we will not make the last Champions League spot! And once we miss that, who would wanana sign for us? Which big-name player that we crave for would be stupid enough to join a team who's not playing Champions League and do not have a realistic chance of winning the league?? Us Liverpool fans dream of players like Ricardo Quaresma, David Silva to come to Anfield, but with our current form in the season, no one is going to come.

Errrrmmm…..Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen are playing for non Champions League EPL team, just a correction there- MyRAWK ADMIN

We need a left back, two wingers and a striker. Top class ones which will cost us at least 40 million pounds. And if this continues, we can say hello to mid table mediocrity for the next ten years.

We did win the UCL in 2006 and the FA CUP in 2007, what about the argument of Liverpool FC being a championship cup winning team only?- MyRAWK ADMIN

Where are the reserves?

The other thing about Rafael Benitez is that he does not look from within his own squad, i.e. the reserves. We have strikers there who are doing well and are being overlooked and loaned out to other teams. It is shame what happened to Neil Mellor, who in my opinion is a lot like Nicholas Bentdner of Arsenal. Nemeth is doing very well in the reserves and Jack Hobbs continues perform. Paul Anderson is a winger doing well on loan, and already has scored 9 goals, AS A WINGER!

There are players in the reserves who are older than Babel!
So where is their motivation, when no matter how well they do, they aren't even being remembered, let alone looked at! Yet Rafael Benitez goes out and buys more youngsters 'for the future'! What an asswipe!

It takes time to nurture a player, after all Jack Hobbs performed poorly in our game against Reading where we lost 3-1- MyRAWK ADMIN

With all that has been going to Liverpool Football Club on one would wonder, who is going to save us? Maybe things would be better under DIC. Should we replace Rafael Benitez? Maybe Jose Mourinho, after all he is a master tactician and a better motivator than Rafa.

For advice to LFC fans, it would be best to forget this season and move on. What we need now is to forget about any aspirations of emulating the great Liverpool teams of playing great football, and just finish amongst the top 4 spots.

We just need to somberly support the lads in the remaining games and will hopefully cheer them to a 4th spot finish. If we lose to Inter, put it to the back of our minds and carry on and if we lose in the FA Cup do the same. Driving ourselves mad about results is not going to help us.

I have frankly had enough of getting stressed out with work and then adding to it with LFC problems, we are not going to make a difference worrying about the club this season as the players and manager and the whole club itself is obviously are not putting in the same effort as the fans. Let us all settle down because for one I am not going to get ripped up no more about bad results. I do not care if we are finishing 20pts behind now as long as we finish 4th.

I am killing myself with mood swings and anger every time I watch the lads play particularly if Kuyt plays. So I will support in silence and just keep calm.

Who do you think performed this season apart from Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano?

Yup, Kuyt's selection week-in, week-out really baffles me.

Even Van Basten doesn't think he's good enough:
