Barclay’s Premier League Post Match Comments & Rants: Hyypia 1 v Liverpool 2, By Jon Wong

I am more than glad to type up this piece. I am absolutely ecstatic at the derby win and more so with each goal coming from a penalty with sendings off thrown into the fray. It was unfortunate that I couldn’t join the lads and lasses at MBar last night as I am sure the place would have gone mad at the final whistle. I had to settle high-fiving my son and throwing punches in the air at home.

After last season’s 0-3 heartbreak in the same fixture, it was about time the ref threw some shite decisions the other way of Stanley Park. It made up for the 2 goals they scored, resulting from fouls which the ref didn’t give in favour of us last season. However, Rafa thinks the ref had a good game. On Sky Sports, he was reported as calling the blueshites “a small club” again and called Lescott a diver. Rafa, you’re the gaffa; so whatever you say!

Having said all that, I didn’t think it was a particularly excellent performance from us but glimpses of a title-winning team did rear its head in the game. Even Gerard had an ok game but I thought he played much better in the 2nd half until he was subbed. At that point, it was 1-1. I thought to myself, WTF???!!! Gerrard was providing us with the drive and penetration that used to be his hallmark before he went for England duty against Estonia and Israel and Rafa is pulling him out? WTF?? Even Captain Marvel himself was flabbergasted upon seeing his number 8 on the board. I was already slagging Rafa off by then.

The difference in performance I felt this game and those forgettable ones preceding this was that more players showed up and played their part. Rafa was always the man. I guess it’s easy for me to say this now as we won the game but many of us were being less than objective about Rafa when we were playing like schoolboys; I am guilty as charged. Just shows how winning actually changes things. A bit fickle on our part but I guess it’s just part of the game isn’t it? I swear I’ll not question Rafa again. Well, not until we lose again or start dropping points against the likes of Chelski, Manure and Gooners.

Till then, I’m gonna enjoy bragging about our win with an ex-colleague and my MD who are life-long blueshite fans.

Well in, lads and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Walk on,
JonW

Kuyt Goals Vs Everton -

Truth be told - Bluenose never really created an opening that was considered a goal scoring chance except for that 30 yarder from Yakubu. Other than that, they were just half chances being created whilst on that basis, we created more than just half chances but real scoring chances. I mean - can you count how many saves did Pepe make at Goodison? Ermm.... none except for less than half a dozen 'soft' half chances which never really tested Pepe ....that's how close they came ..... and the chances that we wasted via Voronin, Sissoko and Riise when they made poor decisions when they had more time to set themselves up for the winning goal!

Credit must be given for RAFA's coaching of ZONAL Marking during set-pieces which if we had used other systems, we would certainly have conceeded from the number of freekicks awarded to the bluenoses. ZONAL marking ... zonal marking!!! It works I tell ya .....

Overall, we deserved to win as we created countless goal-scoring chances and even though we scored the 2 goals via penalties, it was genuine goal-scoring chances until Everton's players interfered with play by bring down Gerrard for our first penalty and Phil Neville by sticking out his hand and making a wonderful diving save which would have made Paul Robinson in the England goal proud!!

Also, claims by Golum (aka Moyes) that he should have 2 penalties ... are unwarranted. First claim was no contest as Yakubu (IIRC) backed into Finnan whilst tucking Finnan's pants (that faggoty Yakubu!!) and the 2nd claim was more of a theathrical fall backwards on the part of Lescort right at death .... the 94.5 minutes of injury time - wait a minute, injury time was suppose to be 3 minutes only! That's right, like I said before, English refs can't count and can't tell the time .... how can we expect them to referee at the biggest stage??!!! ..... well, except for the 2 penalty decisions that Clattenburg gave to us!

Golum's claim that Hibbert should not have been sent off for the foul on Stevie was unfounded as (1) Stevie was on a goal-scoring chance and (2) there were no other players around them except for the keeper. Hence, the moment a foul is whistled by ref, Hibbert has got to go! Otherwise, Clattenburg would be heading for a month out in the wilderness joining Styles in the 1st Division (for his wrongful award of penalty against us when we played Chelsea at Anfield).

On Golum's claim for a red for Kuyt for the so-called 'challenge' on Neville - there was no contact at all was there? Neville jumped!! He chickened out!!! And in any case, it was no more than the innocuous challenge by Voronin in the first half when Voronin track back to concede a corner just as Arteta was about to cross the ball .... it wasn't like Kuyt went in with two-footed or raised foot going into the tackle!!

Nowadays it seems, the managers of smaller clubs have their own interpretation of football rules!! Go figure!
